Modern, innovative, dynamic: Spain is one of the most interesting destinations for contemporary dance. Every year, the Instituto Cervantes Bremen and steptext dance project bring outstanding pieces and performers to Bremen to share insights into the rich local dance landscape with the Bremen audience.
The dance festival will open on September 27th. by Andrés Marín and Jon Maya with "Yarin" with dancers and musicians on stage. The duo reinterprets flamenco, intensively, without folklore, but in a dance-psychological confrontation of bodies and styles. Barefoot meets flamenco shoes, the tension between the two bodies oscillates between closeness and distance, the concentration on the other person is absolute.
A fascinating energy field created on 28.09. Gaston Core with "The Very Last White Northern Rhino". With his sophisticated and detailed language of movement, the award-winning dancer Oulouy manages to swear the audience into a purely dance-artistic, intensive narrative without words, until even the breathing in the room follows that of the dancing body.
On 09/30 the dance gala Así Baila España offers a diverse evening with dance artists from Spain who live and create in Germany. On stage this year will be a duet from Monica Garcia Vicente's latest production "I am not Giselle", Amancio Gonzale's solo "Swan" and a female duo with "Ordinary People" choreographed by Frantics Dance Company.
The conclusion of Baila España 2023 on October 1st. shows a stirring facet of contemporary dance on the Iberian Peninsula. The stage of the Schwankhalle then belongs to the trio Marcat Dance SL and their piece "El Bosque". Mesmerizing dance of flowing movements, synchronous dynamics and individual stylistics.
Baila España combines emotion with the highest level of dancing ability. Book tickets now.
