Augusto Jaramillo Pineda

Artistic Director Young Artists

Augusto Jaramillo Pineda is an actor, dancer, choreographer and teacher. Since the early 1990s, he has participated in numerous theater and film productions in his native country Colombia. Together with the director and writer Farley Velasquez Ochoa and other actors he founded the internationally known theater group TEATRO HORA 25. From 1999 to 2001 he taught contemporary dance at the EAFIT University in Medellín. His engagements in Germany led him to steptext dance project e.V. (steptext), as well as to the Bremer Theater and the Moks Theater.

His art often deals with central questions about human existence and mythological figures, combined with trash and depth, sensuality, soul and humor. His works include the award-winning solo about Frida Kahlo AÚN RESPIRO...Y?, the trilogy LUZBEL, THANATOS and ADONAI, as well as LEANDRA - CROSS OVER IDENTITY and LOS DESAPARECIDOS.

Augusto Jaramillo Pineda has been a permanent member of steptext since 2002. In 2004 he took over the artistic direction of the Young Artists. Within the framework of regular training sessions and intensive rehearsal processes, he develops youth dance theater productions with young people from Bremen of international origin, with or without stage experience, which deal with modern themes.

Augusto Jaramillo Pineda teaches introductory dance courses at all-day schools and regularly supervises the Easter workshops held at the Schwankhalle, as well as the dance theater camps during the summer vacations. Furthermore, he leads the dance classes of "die Peques", the children's group of the dance project steptext and in the youth sector the trainings for the "Young Artists", as well as Peer2Peers workshops. He is also responsible for the German-Colombian youth exchange project CONSTRUCTORES, which is supported by Engagement Global, the BMZ, the Bremen Senator for Culture and the Columbus School Foundation.
